Are both sentences using the conjunction 'whereas' grammatically correct? If not, how can I fix these sentences? Thank you.

1. A quatrain is a four-line stanza, whereas a couplet a two-line stanza.
2. A quatrain is a four-line stanza, whereas a couplet is a two-line stanza.
