1. This will enable researchers to collect more results than were possible with the outdoor experiments.

I'd say that only 'was possible' was correct, but I'm sure there are those who find 'were possible' correct as well. For me it goes like this: This will enable researchers to collect more results than it was possible to collect with the outdoor experiments. CJ
