Why not ease off? Ease off is the phrasal verb used for saying that a pain has become less strong. And is 'to be eased off' incorrect?

"to be eased off" sounds wrong to me because it's passive.

The pain eased off sounds OK — not great, but OK — but The pain was eased off sounds wrong.

I recommend ... for her pain to subside.

I hope her pain will ease. / I hope her pain eases.

I don't think I'd use the verb "wish" in this kind of statement.
