Appropriate use of the word SOOTHING

Soothing means having a calming, assuaging, or relieving effect.

I know it could be used to describe sounds, touch and color.

Examples:
He has a very soothing voice.
Classical music is very soothing.
His caress was very soothing.
Green is very soothing to the eyes.

But I was wondering if you could use it in the following ways:

The cake is very soothing.
Soft fabric is very soothing to the skin.

I hope you guys could help me on this.
