Appreciation note to employer who helped guide my career

I was hired by this person as a receptionist 12 years ago. Through that time she has given me opportunities to move up and forward throughout this great company. I have been a successful executive assistant for the past 5 years and have a boss who is a good person. I recently graduated from college and have a pretty good foundation should I decide to move on. I would like to send this person who has selflessly helped guide me through my "career" with a letter of appreciation and small gift. I would apprecite any suggestions or wording that could help contribute to getting this point across.

Thanks in advance

First, I think you need to decide how formal of a letter you want to write to this person. Do you know her very well now since you've known this person for 12 years. Do you know her at a friend level?

  • Nonetheless, I think you write English pretty well already and so should be able to draft up such a letter.
