I say "I appreciate it" when it someone does a task or completes a task that was somewhat expected. Alternatively, I often say "I appreciate that" when I feel like they've done something that could be considered 'above and beyond' what was necessary. I don't put too much thought into it, but I suppose I just came to the conclusion that if I say "I appreciate that", it's actually a bit more sin
