Dear Itasan,

It is a «diary» in British English. I do not know what American people say.

Kind regards, Emotion: smile

Thank you very much, everybody.

You call 'a book in which you record what happens to you everyday' a diary too, right?

In the U.S. books like that are usually called a log. An expense log. A computer log. An activity log. You enter the details of all records. The diary usually means the book a person keeps to record his/her private feelings -- as in Ann Frank's dairy.

Hello Itasan

Yes; in BrE, a diary can be either the pocket book in which you keep details of appointments, etc., or your personal record of your day-to-day activities.
