Grammar

applying/following

Hi

I'm not sure which word should I use? Maybe neither?

I'm trying to say that even if you won't understand the intrepretations, information of a tax office you will, however, have to pay taxes.

1. Applying to the wrong interpretation of the minister or the information of tax authorities does
not relieve a taxpayer from a duty to pay taxes. MAYBE I SHOULD USE THE WORD "FOLLOWING THE WRONG..."

2. How about this sentence?

Applying to the wrong information (interpretation) may constitute a premise to the remission of the tax arrears.

Misinterpretation of rules and regulations by the minister or tax authorities by no means pave the way for tax evasion. The usual term when it comes to tax frauds is tax evasion.

Hmm, I'm not sure yet if your sentence conveys what I wanted to say. I'll have to think.

I am no expert here.
People like Clive, CalifJim, Marius, Feebs and few others are experts.
I must confess that I make mistakes. I am waiting to read the comments from those experts.

Some possibilities:

A wrong interpretation or understanding of tax laws/regulations is no justification (legal or otherwise) for being exempt from paying the appropriate taxes.

A wrong interpretation or understanding of tax laws/regulations does not constitute/provide a justification (legal or otherwise) for being exempt from paying the appropriate taxes.

Thanks for the answers.

Is it, however, possible to write it using the word FOLLOWING, i.e. Following the wrong interpretation of the minister or the information of tax authorities does
not relieve a taxpayer from a duty to pay tax
