Apply to a job

I want show how many people apply to the job. Can I put it like this:

Job A: 1 apply

Job B: 5 apply

I am not sure the word 'apply' is proper here.

Also should I say,

Job A: 1 applies

since there is only one

Please advise.

Thanks.
