Vocabulary

Apply

Hi,

Additional charge will apply.

I totally understand the meaning of this expression (I have to pay additional money), but I cannot locate the specific sense of "apply" on http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/apply.

Can anyone tell me which sense it is?
Is it intransitive?

Regards
