Application of the word

Hello! I need help of the native speakers.

I need an advice if the sentence sounds natural, mostly I am worried about whether it is right to say "the applcation is confined to":

The term ventilation is of wide application but in the present volume its applcation is confined to inhabited rooms or buldings.

Thanks a lot!
