00I am writing in order to apply for the Sociology and Social Research master program at Utrecht University. I graduated from Tischner European University in Cracow in 2006 and obtained a bachelor degree in Sociology, majoring in Economy and Market Research. 02br

00Throughout the past three years I was greatly interested in social research methods, especially quantitative methods. The subject of my BA thesis, “Weblog as a source of sociological knowledge”, was chosen on the basis of my methodological interest and was supposed to show how weblogs can be used in social analysis. Having to deal with different data analysis methods in order to get the most reliable outcomes was the most interesting part of the writing process.02br

00Being involved in some research projects, I discovered true passion in applying theoretical knowledge to empirical challenges. The projects I participated in include research on international students in Cracow, which, apart from empirical experience, gave me the idea of how it is like to study in a foreign country. 02br

00Knowing how hard it may be to be a foreign student, I realized I would like to try and get through this amazing challenge. Studying at Utrecht University will be a great opportunity to extend my knowledge and to get strong theoretical background to start my future career. 02br

00One of the reasons why I am applying to Utrecht University is its high standard of education and the fact that it is so much respected for its way of interdisciplinarity. Utrecht also seems to be one of the most appreciated by international students academic cities in the Netherlands.02br

00My goal after finishing studies at Utrecht University is to start working at a market research company or at the public opinion research institute. Depending on many factors this may be either in the Netherlands, or back in my home country – Poland. Working in such a place requires a lot of creativity and a solid theoretical background, which I expect to obtain in the coming two years. 02br
