Dear. VIBOT coordination team,

I am writing this letter to support my application xxx by outlining my extra-curricular and academic accomplishments together with my career objectives and the motivations to pursue this program.
At beginning, let me inform you a glimmer of my biography that was formed in technically way for my life struggle journey, facing obstacles, arousing the inner power in soul, arming with science and knowledge, gradually patience, recognition of errors when they happen, contemplating them and extracting their results without escaping from them and continuing my way to my known goal. Through this I had the determination wherever or whenever I was.

When I was at the preparatory stage, I read a lot about the ancient pharaonic history. My mentors always taught us not only that the most important thing our ancestors Pharaohs mastered was engineering as they established a fantastic civilization that lasted till this time, but they also have usually enlightened us that progressing in electronics will be very quick and noticeable during the coming years, which in turn will lead to a revolution in the computers and robotics science. Thanks to this, engineering generally grabbed my heart and mind, being an engineer become my great hope.

At the starting of my secondary stage, my father, mother, and my sisters wrote on my room ' The future Engineer '. I mastered all subjects that qualify me to join the faculty of engineering such as: maths, physics, chemistry, and English. My grades were excellent with a scale 92.05%. "Will I follow my ancient Egyptian's steps or go harmoniously with progress in the fields of electronics, computer, and robots? ", answering this question, is what confused me, and introducing myself, will answer this question.

My name is Emad M. Awaad. I am a teaching assistant in Industrial Electronics and Control Engineering Dept, Faculty of Electronic Engineering, Menofia University, Egypt.

I would like to inform you that i have finished the B.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering (Major –Automatic Control Engineering) and my undergraduate studies have proved immensely fruitful overall.

Talking about my first year in faculty I worked hard more than a lot of my classmates, so I decided to be better and learned programs that draw electronic circuit" Eagle ", as a first step with engineering programs and tried to be the best by making many circuits for my elder classmates. From this time I was known as the best one using this program.

Regarding to the voluntary work, I helped in making some robot control circuits that were shared in international competitions (2006-2007), my classmates at the lst year in faculty to make the circuits of their graduation projects, which were usually (microcontroller) that controls CNC machines or robots, though I had the experience that qualifies me to go on this field (the field of robots).

During the first three years of my undergraduate education, I derived useful knowledge from a wide variety of foundational courses in electrical and electronic engineering that included Electronic Devices, Electrical and Electronic Circuits, Digital Electronic Circuits, Computer Programming and Architecture, Automatic Control Engineering, Electrical Power and Machines, Single-Chip Microcontrollers. In those courses, I achieved excellent marks or the highest scores in the entire grade. Relying on my solid understanding, my well-trained experimental skills and hand-on abilities that I have developed during the study of these courses, I realized that majoring in the field of automatic control is the first logical step which I believe indispensable for my future career development and will benefit me for my whole life.

Within my studies during the two years in the Department of Industrial Electronics and Control Engineering in which I have exposed to many disciplines embodied in the courses of study including Linear Control Systems, Nonlinear Control Systems, Digital Control Systems, Signal Processing, Modern Control Theory, and Intelligent Control Systems, my theoretical understanding of Control, Mechatronics, and Robotics Engineering become very well. I was strongly interested in the courses concerning Robotics and Mechatronics to the extent that I have chosen my entire elective courses in this area. These courses include Robotics, Real-Time Control Systems, Servo-Control Lab, Electro-Hydraulic Servo Mechanisms Lab. Modeling of Mechatronic System Components, Computer Numerical Control (CNC).

With regard to ranking, I have been ranked the second in the department among a total of 362 students with (Excellent with Honor Degree 88.09%) (2011).

During my work as a teaching assistant, was exposed to an active research group that focuses on Applied Control Systems. Thus, not only I obtained a deep knowledge in the following research areas, Soft-Computing, Machine Learning Methods, and Control of Robotic, but I also realized that the classical-based control theories could no longer meet the requirements posed by modern large-scale and complicated robots and other mechatronic systems, so that I readied intensively specialized books, papers, and online courses in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Neural Network, Fuzzy Systems, Robust and Optimal Adaptive Control, Image Processing, statistical analysis… etc. Although the theories incorporated in those courses could by no means work out all the problems in modern control, their effectiveness in improving systems efficiency, made me all the more determined to devote myself to the studies in control theories and applications to robotics. This solid background opened my eyes to many interesting research topics in Robotics, which regard it as a lifelong career objective to which I would dedicate all my intelligence and energy.

I am really interested to join this studentship in your esteemed universities, because I feel like I've found what I'm looking for. I am looking forward to reach the boundaries even further, being a scientist, and make new creations in this area. This is what prompted me to apply.

Now, I am targeting a top ranking and "world-class" research institute in Control Engineering/Mechatronics/Robotics that implements the state-of-the-art educational systems based on the international academic concepts and offers many research-intense programs and the research environment is impeccable. I hope if I could pursue a degree in the field Computational Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, i.e. statistical analysis, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Systems, Genetic Algorithms, Swarm Intelligence, and Support Vector Machines, and their applications to Advanced Robotics, Signal and Image Processing, and Computer Vision.

Last but not least, I have experienced too many disappointments and frustrations and what I look for is some truly outstanding and innovative research environment that can lead me to important breakthroughs, so I will be not only one of the most students, but the most one of them cooperative, pursuant, and diligent. I put a motto towards my eyes is - do not see your time is running out, and your age going without producing useful and beneficial things -, My greatest expectation from the prospective degree program is to right place me at the way towards the best award in control community, Richard Bellman Award.

I beg your pardon; I am so sorry for this too long email.

Sincerely Yours,
Emad M.Awaad
