application e-mails

hello

I am applying for an internship in the USA at the moment. I received some answers by e-mail. They start their e-mails with "hello mark" and at the end they write their complete name. My question: Do I answer them with "Hello" and their first name or with "Hello Mr." and their last name.

I know it is an funny question but I don't have any clues about it.

Thank you

Hi, Very generally speaking, the USA is an informal culture in many ways, and first names are quickly used. So, you have a choice. If it were me, I'd be inclined to use Mr.

Hi,

Very generally speaking, the USA is an informal culture in many ways, and first names are quickly used. So, you have a choice. If it were me, I'd be inclined to use Mr. or Ms. with last name.

I agree with Clive. Continue to say "Mr. Smith" as long as the person puts Thomas Smith at the bottom of the e-mail. If the person starts ending the e-mail with just "Tom," then it's probably okay to send the next to "Tom." At work, I have a signature block at the bottom of my e-mail with my full name and title, but I often will type in "Barb" so I would expect anyone writing back to address me by
