Apple is tasty

I know that we need to add an article before
singular countable nouns.
However, I often hear people saying things like:

"Apple is tasty."

Is it correct and acceptable?

Thanks.

"Apple is tasty" refers to apple-flavored things, whereas "the apple is tasty" refers to an individual apple. In general, a singular noun without an article refers to a class or type rather than to specific objects. " Hope that helps.
