Hello. Can someone please answer which of appear and emerge are the best solution?
I was waiting in the hall when a nurse appeared/emerged and led me into an office.
And another question: Does emerge have a sense of urgency to it?
Both "appeared" and "emerged" are possible. "emerged" more strongly suggests that the nurse came out from another room or other separate area, most probably through a door. It does not have any more sense of urgency.
