Appeal to executives about his ability?

Hello,

Is this correct?

"He devoted significant effort into his presentation to appeal to executives about his ability."

Or how would you normally write it to mean "appeal to executives to make them regcognize his ability"

He put significant effort into his presentation...

Now for the last part. I would use neither of your suggested sentences. The first sentence is incorrect ("appeal...about") and the second sentence is awkwardly long. Say instead:
