apostrophes
i work in a restaurant and we have a salad with duck "cracklins" in it. my chef writes it this way - cracklins'. the g has been dropped on purpose. i guess it is a southern thing! to me that looks possesive. it has been many years since i have taken an english class, so please forgive my idiocy in something that may be so simple to some! i think that it should be written cracklin's because doesn't the apostrophe replace the missing letter?!?!?! please help me solve this. it is driving me nuts!
