Apostrophe or not?

I'm working on a technical document for a group of products and have come across the phrase:

"The products' use for other fluids may be possible.'

The guy I'm editing for has suggested the apostrophe should be moved to give:

"The product's use for other fluids may be possible.'

I think this is wrong given that we're talking about a group of products (plural) rather than a single product, but thinking more on it I'm not so sure there should be an apostrophe at all!

Is there a need for a possessive apostrophe here? Any and all feedback gratefully received!

Why don't you say: "Using the products for other fluids may be possible."?
