Hi guys,

Was wondering about the following title. Which one would be correct:

An account of an Englishwoman's eight years' residence amongst the women of the east

An account of an Englishwoman's eight year's residence amongst the women of the east

I was wondering, which form of apostrophe is correct and, most importantly, why?
