Apostophe Usage

I am hoping someone can clarify...

If the last name is Gooley, would I write:
1) The Gooley's
2) The Gooleys

If the last name is Walters, would I write:
1) The Walters'
2) The Walters

I am not claiming ownership of anything, just simply putting "The (last name)" at the top of a notepad.

Thanks!

You don't use the apostrophe unless you're actually claiming some kind of ownership. So, it would be.... the Simpsons the Gooleys the Joneses the Walters Since this is English, I'm sure there's some kind of exception to this rule somewhere, but I'm not sure what it is!
