Which is correct? I worked there in the 1990s. or I worked there in the 1990's.

I feel even more strongly than Mr. Wordy and suggest that only the version WITHOUT the apostrophe is correct.

The form 1990's is an older form, and I'm just old enough to find it difficult to break the habit of using it. You will certainly see it written that way in older books. The more recent suggestion is 1990s, which looks strange to me, but I guess it's considered progress by some!
