Apologise for the fact that...

I'm wondering whether this sentence is correct:

I would like to apologise in advance for the fact that I am not prepared for this meeting.

Or should i use past simple:
...fact that I didn't prepare for this meeting.

Can someone help me, please?
Thanks in advance
