Hi,
I am an English teacher from Hungary. I have a problem with a very specific Central European expression. I grew up in a typical Budapest apartment building from the early 20th century. These huge buildings have five or six floors eith lots of apartments. The building itself is "layered" with identical corridors running parallelly above one another all around the open central "atrium". Like a typical viennese apartment block. My question is: what do you call these open, hanging corridors in English?
"Gallery", but it's not a definition you see very often. You might want to throw in a description the first time you use the word.
