APA citations...

I am writing a paragraph which includes a quote. All the information in the paragraph is coming from the same source. I am quoting a sentence from the source also in the paragraph. I am including a citation at the end of the paragraph; however, do I need to include an additional citation at the end of the quote? Thanks!

Generally speaking, it is expected that all quotes will be followed by a reference. However, different people have different styles when it comes to inserting references: some people like to put a reference for each point, others just at the end of the paragraph. To be on the safe side, I always tell students to put a reference if they are not sure.

  • You can't get in trouble for putting too many references, but you can for not putting enough.
