anyways

not a word? I've been using it since... whenever I came to the states, I learned it here of course. But it's never been a real word?

My dictionary has ''anyways' as N. American, informal. To me,when educated people say it, they are often being a little bit humorous, rather like eg when they say 'anyhoooo' as a mispronunciation of 'anyhow'.

It is a non-standard, slang word. You may hear people say anyways in the US, but it is not correct, standard English.
