Anyway or by the way?

Which should I use in the following statements: anyway or by the way?

‘I need to win this contest. I need to be the champion.’ This is what I often hear from a participant in a competition. Who doesn’t want to bring home the bacon, (anyway/by the way)?

Neither sounds natural to me. I'd use 'after all'.

I wouldn't use either, actually; I would begin the sentence with 'And'.
