anything else?

How do I explain to call center agents that 'anything else?' does not sound so good before ending the call and that they should use 'is there anything else I can help you with?' The only reason I could think of is that it sounds too casual and it doesn't sound appropriate in a business call. Does asking 'anything else?' sound rude/arrogant in some way? Native speakers? What do you think?

In the right tone of voice there's nothing wrong with "Anything else?" A little better is "Is there anything else?" or even "What else can I help you with?"

CJ is clearly more tolerant than I am. I think "Anything else" is rude - and even in the kindest of voices, just too abrupt. It sounds like what I've already asked of you was an imposition and "anything else" is just too much to bear.

I do like "What else can I help you with?" but I prefer your original suggestion of "Is there anything else I can help you with today?"

Grammar GeekOne company I had to call recently ended the call with "Have I helped you resolve all of your questions to your satisfaction today?" -- That was interesting. I had to say "Yes" -- If I said yes and left unsatisifed, it would have been MY fault. If I had said "Well, no, not really," I'm sure the person would have pursued the matter until I was satisfied.

Oh dear! I must have had to good rep that day, and you got the bad one. I want to say it was Comcast, but I really can't remember.
