I see your point, but we aren't dealing with a true conditional sentence here. I think there is no problem with the sentence as it stands.

There are a variety of ways to say these, but to my ear, none of them indicates a situation that actually happened. The use of "anyone who" already makes the statements hypothetical and/or generic.
