anyone who knows the Contiental Divide Trail or...

Hi guys,

I can't picture the part marked in red.
My question is :

1. Is the Continental Divide Trail located halfway between the pass and St Mary's Lake?
2. Does the pass refer to the Logan Pass or the Highline Trail?
3. What's the meaning of "crosses the road at Siyeh Bend" here?
(Should I understand it like :the Continental Divide Trail traverses the Going-to-the Sun Road at Siyeh Bend or the Continental Divide Trail begins across the road at Siyeh Bend?)
4. "a good starting point" refer to "Siyeh Bend", isn't it?

Sounds like that the whole sentence needs to be analized...sorry about that.

I don't have any geographical knowledge about the place and have tried to find the info on website but can't get it.
If you know some about the place or have any idea from the context and let me know that,
it would be much appreciated !

Thank you~

Starting at Apgar, the phenomenal Going-to-the-Sun Road skirts shimmering Lake McDonald before angling sharply to the Garden Wall – the main dividing line between the west and east sides of the park. At Logan Pass you can stroll 1.5 miles to Hidden Lake Overlook; heartier hikers can try the 7.5-mile Highline Trail. About halfway between the pass and St Mary’s Lake, the Contiental Divide Trail crosses the road at Siyeh Bend, a good starting point for multiday hikes.

Have you tried Google maps? In most cases you can toggle between a traditional map and a satellite photo. It sounds like we have a road (or highway) and a hiking trail which intersect.

  • It's not clear to me whether Siyeh Bend is a bend in the trail or a bend in the road, but it may undoubtedly be found where the trail and the road cross.
  • It may conceivably be a bend in a river.

Thank you very much Avangi,

I really appreciate your quick and kind comments.
I have a very simple map and it shows rough sketch about those places.

After reading your writings, I found that the way I thought of a trail had a problem.
I mean I ignored that the Continental Divide Trail is a very long trail and has many sections or parts at the same time.('Cause it is a ro

You might be interested to go to Google and click on "Maps." Type in "St. Mary Lake" (not St. Mary's), Montana. You can see Siyeh Bend at the extreme left. You can enlarge or reduce the image with the scroll wheel on the mouse, and move the image by holding down the left click while moving the mouse. You can switch from map to satellite picture by clicking on "satellite."
