In this sentence : woman killed in attack at Charlottesville protest named

What does 'named' work for? I understood that a woman killed in a protest but does not understand the meaning of 'named' in this sentence. Thanks!

The newspaper headline is the shortened form of 'The woman who was killed in an attack at a Charottesville protest has been named'. Presumably her name had been withheld in an earlier report until her family had been informed.
