Anyone can help me with this essay

Some people believe that crime is a result of social problems and poverty, others think that crime is a result of bad person’s nature. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

A certain number of people regards crime as a result of a natural instinct of a person. Although I accept that crime may come from individual characteristics of violence or greed, I would assume that social issues and poverty are major reasons of crime.

There is a widespread belief that a person’s nature determines whether they will commit crime or not. First, unkind children are more likely to become a criminal than polite ones in the future. For instance, a child who threaten their peers with violence may turn into a murderer later. Second, people who have a lazy or greedy personality have potential of acquiring easy money without working hard. In these days, there is a growing number of youngsters who always attempt to find a way to steal from others instead of working to earn money. These are clear evidences for thinking that bad people have trend to break the law.

However, it seems to me that social problems and poverty are main causes behind crime. First, it is obvious that the crime rate in periods of economic crisis reach the high level. Because a large number of people lose their job, they have to steal from others in order to survive. Second, a poor condition of a family is an important reason that cause a child commit crime in the future. For example, the child who do not take enough care from their family have a trend not to obey the law because their parents get separated or divorced.

In conclusion, although both views are reasonable in some way, I still think that the reasons of crime are a result of social issues.

Thank you!
