Toipic: Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female student in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
That male and female students go to tertiary education with equal quantity in every subject remains controversial. However, I completely disagree with this idea and hold the belief that both genders should be given the same educational opportunities. The door to universities is only wide open for those who deserve.
On one hand, eqaul proportion of male and female students is unrealistic. According to a recent research from WTO, human sex ratio could not ever be balanced, as a result, it is far fromm possible for equal number of each gender to get admitted in every subject offered in universities. In reality, some jobs with specific characteristics attract one gender’s attention much more than the other. Engineering and IT, for example, apparently entice male students into studying whereas female ones often find themselves in conformity with nursing courses. Therefore, it is an impractical aim to, in terms of quantity for each gender, divide students into two equal parts to attend the university courses.
On the other hand, it is essential that a fair chance be given to both genders to get admission to the universities. They should continue to select the best candidates due to their academic merits and qualifications. Should the access to tertiary levels of education be based on gender, students who are trying their utmost to go to pretigious institutions will feel like they are just squandering their time and devotion. Some will be soon disheartened and some will balk at such injustice. A female student with higher grades and more qualifications should be chosen for the course she registers, instead of giving a male one who lack of mental agility chances.
In conclusion, I strongly advocate the idea that selecting candidates to the universities should be based on merits. Imagine how impratical and unfair the world will become if that procedure gets based on gender.
