Anybody could explain me "would have to do..."

I am getting confused about the phrase "would have to do", what is the exact meaning of it, when should I use it? Please provide some examples during your explaination. Thanks.

does it have any other meaning or usage besides hypothetical situation?? Can't think of any.

and, the example you provided "eg If I had a party tonight for 500 people, I would have to clean this place tomorrow. ", Can I use "If I have a party ..." instead of "If I had a party ..."?
