Any more vs any

Hi, please help me.

"I'm afraid we don't have any more fountain pens in stock."

"I'm afraid we don't have any fountain pens in stock."

Is there any difference in meaning between the sentences above?

Hi! i need an explaination regarding this as well. :-) My attempt is that in the first sentence , you want to clarify that the once a fountain was there but NOW it is not and in the second sentence , a fountain has never been there and now it is not.

"I can not wait for your answer ANY MORE "

" I can not wait for your answer NO MORE"

no --> not

once you have "no", you don't need not.

I personally like "I cannot wait for your answer any more." and "I can no longer wait for your answer (no longer)." a bit better.

Let me just add that a double negative is a big No No in English so the second sentence is not grammatical (but often heard).

I cannot wait for your answer any more - only contains one "not" so its not double negative

I cannot wait for your answer no more - contains "not" and "no" so it becomes a double negative - which is wrong

tashirowe don't have any more
Meaning 1.
x x x x x x x x x

We have nine. We don't have any more. We have only those nine. (We don't have ten or eleven or twelve.)

Meaning 2. We had some before. Now we have 0. [This meaning can also be communicated with "We don't have any anymore".]
