It is not until we can get a book at a book shop or a library that people with various jobs such as an author, an editor, a designer, a copywriter, or a proofreader commit to deliver a book to us.

The writer/author writes the book. An agent (usually) helps the author find a publisher. The publisher agrees to publish the book and assigns an editor. When the text is ready, it goes to the designer to lay it out. It's then printed and available for the libraries and bookstores to buy.
