Any errors in these 2 sentences?

1. 'I still hanker after playing football as a professional player'.
2. 'I still have a hankering for putting in 100% effort when I was in the local football club'
I mean, I've seen examples with 'hanker after' and 'have a hankering for ' followed by object nouns and I wonder if it's fine to use nouns derived from verbs like 'playing' or 'putting'.
Best regards Emotion: smile
