Any difference?

Hi! everyone.
Are these sentences interchangeable?
-I wanted to talk to them, but I didn't get any farther than the front door.
-I wanted to talk to them, but I didn't get any further from the front door.
-The family had moved again,a hundred miles further west.
-The family had moved again,a hundred miles farther west.
Are there any distinctions between them?
Thanks!

These are possible: I wanted to talk to them, but I didn't get any farther/further than the front door. The family had moved again,a hundred miles further/farther west. Traditional grammars still try to make the distinction between 'farther' (a physical distance) and 'further' (a conceptual or metaphoric distance), but usage suggests that 'further' is overcoming 'farther' in all uses.
