any correction needed?

when I was in my village, there was a market that would open every Saturday. That market might be open these days too. I am not pretty sure. The market was three hours of walk away. I would go there almost every Saturday. It would take me even longer to come back home from the market because by the time we headed back to home, we would get tired and it's a lot of uphills on the way to home.

It sounds like you dropped by the village just to visit for a day or two. That's not what you mean.
