Any better

I don't think I've bowled any better, really happy. There is nothing really that I was thinking about, the new ball was always going to be better to grip. I've been working on the carrom ball and different variations thanks to my Dad who has helped me. Dhoni gives me a lot of confidence so that helps too.

Could you please explain to me what "any better" means here?

Though I guess it means "I didn't bowl better than I used to do", but then I wonder why he is happy.

It means "I don't think I've (ever) bowled any better (than this)". So, this is the best he's ever bowled.

No. That's not the meaning. The negation, as usual with opinions, has been transferred to the main clause, so it's

I think that I have not (ever) bowled any better.
~ I think that I have never bowled better (to any degree).
