Any

Hello,
I have a sentence, which I do not really understand. Could anybody tell me, is any a negation or a statement. Here is the content:
If the key is over disconnected position, the system will be on "Disconnected" mode. In this state any signalling works (either faults or working modes).
Thank you.

Hi Natalia In your example, this means that all types of signalling will work (both signalling used to indicate faults or signalling that occurs in normal working modes). Best wishes Mo For information, I used to work in IT for over 20 years.

To me "any" in the meaning of "all" makes no sence, because the system is disconnected and all signals should be deactivated. And if "all" signalling works, wh

Hello Mo,

Thank you for the answer but I am still not satisfied with this meaning. See my comments below.

Hi Natalia
Yes, from an IT point of view, it makes no sense. As you say, you will need to contact the author to determine his/her intention.

From an IT point of view I would expect to see the following:
"If the key is in (i.e. switched to) disconnected position, the system will be in "Disconnected" mode. In this state no signalling will work (

Hi Mo,

this is how I would expect to see it too. Tomorrow I will ask the author.

Thanks!
