A column of marching ants.
A colony of ants in single file.

I can't see the picture, but it's common to speak of a column of ants.

Then you mean it is not correct and common to say .....

1. A file of ants
or
2. A line of ants
And I have to say "A coloumn of ants"
?

Ok, thank you Fivejedjon. It's an interesting graph. Then it shows that the number of usage frequency of "column of ants" is much more than "file of frequency"
