Antonia: to seal the deck

Hello,

I have two questions:

What does it really mean to seal the deck (of the house)?

and the second is:

he turned the ladder right side up? what is the meaning of right?

Thanks

Hi Antonia - I think that to seal a deck means to give it a protective coating so the wood won't deteriorate. "Right side up" is the opposite of "upside down," that is, in the normal useful position.
