Antonia: pull back on the throttle

Hello,

Can you please help me with the following:

1) pull back on the throttle What does it mean? It refers to driving in the boat.(perhaps reducing the speed?)

2) girlie knot

Thanks

1. It will either be speeding up or reducing speed but not sure as I don't know much about boats! 2) Presumably they mean a badly tied knot...

Hi Nona, well the context is that the character was nearing the dock and than he stopped. So it must be reducing speed

1) is definitely to reduce speed

2) A girlie knot would imply a knot that is pretty to look at, but not very practical and might come apart easily.

Please don't read any sexism into the above phrase, I'm just describing it!
