Antonia: EMT

Hi,

Can you tell me what does it mean:

1) stats

2) EMT (Emergency medical something?)

3) IV (intravenous something?)

Stats were called out by the EMT, IVs were started, the girl was intubated.

Thanks

Stats = I'm not sure about this one, though I think it has to do with the stats of her diagnostic test. EMT = Emergency Medical Technicians. IVs = Intravenous lines.

Used if someone is to act absolutely now, only in real emergency situations like resuscitation

Thank you.

Thank you Kajjo, but I still have a lot of questions left.

I think stat in my context refers to figures concernining some tests.

Do you perhaps know what are lines, needles or tubes?

Hi Antonia,
hm, you could give me the page number... However, as far as I remember there was a young woman of sorts brought into the emergency room, "stats were called" and the girl intubated or similar. On such a short notice there are surely no statistics available, but doctors calling "stat" to get something done (e.g. something injected or tests ordered). In every "emergency room" TV sequ

Hi Kajjo, take a look at "stats" on the page 365. It's when Sara has a flashes back to Sally McGuire (if you remember). She remembers that stats were called.

IV lines are in the same paragraph.

I still decode the sentence such that "stat!" was shouted frequently, exactly as it is necessary in an emergency room. Imagine, even the blood pressure and temperature is told to have been measured later, what statistics could be wanted so early?
Have a look at these short pages:

Ok, I agree. I don't know why it seemed to me that there's more to it.

Thank you for clarifying IV.
