Speech & Pronunciation

Antifungal, antimissile, etc.

Hi,

(1) Is it just a matter or taste (style) to put "-" after the prefix in these and similar words (anti-fungal vs antifungal)?

(2) As far as I know, the prefix "anti" can rhyme with either "-tea..." (1) or "-tie..." (2). Is it true that most AE speakers pronounce "antifungal" (and similar words) as (2) nowadays?

Looking forward to your comments...

(1) Yes, it's a style issue, unless there is a need to avoid confusion. (2) British vs. American pronuncuation, technically.

I, an American, say it both ways with no pattern I can see. You'll also hear a schwa, like "antabacterial".
