anthem jacket made of ears

James Milner, England
Milner often gets made fun of for being supremely bland. There's even a very popular "Boring James Milner" parody Twitter account. The real James Milnerclaims to be on the hunt for the person behind this account, but this obviously is just a cover. He's actually been carefully cultivating this image for years, biding his time until he shows up for a match wearing an anthem jacket made of ears and does things with the ball that make the Brazilians look like baby giraffes trying to stand for the first time. He will make Salvador Dali seem unimaginative and square. You have been warned.

Why are there ears on the jacket? So the 'anthem jacket' here refers to the jersey? And the jacket made of ears means he is an acute player as a metaphor?

An "anthem jacket" appears to be some kind of sports jacket, possibly alluding to the fact that players might wear it while their national anthem plays. I have never heard of it before. I think "anthem jacket made of ears" is just a very weird and non-bland / non-boring thing that the author invented.

The material I choosing for practicing my English is a bilingual edition. So the Chinese translation of the question I posted, in the corresponding paragraph, says the player is very obedient to his coach. So I just want to confirm if the translation of these sentences are right.

The second link seems like an allusion stemming from the Bible... Thank you very much!

Independently, your link makes sense. But in the article, I think the writer wants to make a positive description. So why does the writer use this proverb in a switch expression way to describe the player?

It's only my opinion, but I do not personally believe that "anthem jacket made of ears" has any connection with the expression "You can't make a silk pu
