Hi there,
I would like to check this. A company writes regarding a shipment:
"We cannot provide the exact delivery date."
or
"We cannot provide an exact delivery date."
With my logic, there's only one delivery date when the item can be delivered. But I often see "an exact delivery date". Are both correct / can I use both? What is the reasoning behind this curious usage?
Thank you so much.
anonymous Are both correct / can I use both? Yes. Each has its own logic which comes from its own point of view.

Yes. Each has its own logic which comes from its own point of view.
the exact delivery date: This is the (only) date which will eventually be chosen.
an exact delivery date: This is any one of the dates among the many from which a choice can be made.
