Ant as an uncountable noun

Can I say "There's ant all over the ground as far as I can see (gross)!!" to describe a overwheliming amount of ant creeping on the surface of the earth? Too much to distinguish individuals!

I've read a book where some countable nouns may permit treatment as mass noun. But my sentence doesn't go for that. If you don't mind, could you tell me situationa permiting the treatment? Thanks in advance.
