Should I use (he replied) or (he answered) when it refers to a face to face discussion?

Hi, Generally speaking, there's not a lot of difference, but one or the other may soun better, depending on the context. Often, we just say eg 'he said that . .

Often, we just say

eg 'he said that . . . '

eg 'he told me that . .
